Lesson 8 โ In the Classroom
๐English Class
The students enter the classroom. Mr. Parker is ready to start the lesson.
"Good morning, class! Please sit down," says Mr. Parker.
The students sit at their desks.
"Today we have English class," says Mr. Parker. "Open your books to page 15, please."
Everyone opens their books. Peter can't find page 15.
"Amy, what page?" whispers Peter.
"Page 15," whispers Amy.
"Now, listen carefully," says Mr. Parker. "Today we learn about animals. Look at the pictures on page 15."
The students look at the pictures: a dog, a cat, a bird, a fish.
"Can you name these animals?" asks Mr. Parker.
"I can!" says Alejandro.
"Repeat after me: dog."
"Dog," says the class.
"Now, write these words in your notebooks," says Mr. Parker.
Mishiko writes very carefully. Peter writes quickly.
"Mishiko, can you spell 'bird'?"
"B-I-R-D," says Mishiko.
"Peter, can you spell 'fish'?"
"F-I-S-H," says Peter.
"Now, close your books," says Mr. Parker. "Draw a cat."
Everyone draws. Peter laughs. "I can't draw very well."
"Can you all speak English?" asks Mr. Parker.
"A little," says Mishiko.
"I can understand, but I can't speak perfectly," says Amy.
